What is the difference between highlights and balayage?
Traditional highlights are generally placed in foils for precise, consistent lift and can create brightness closer to the root. Balayage is painted by hand to create a softer transition and more lived-in grow-out. Your colorist may also combine techniques when that will best achieve your desired result.
What are babylights and lowlights?
Babylights are very fine highlights designed to mimic the delicate brightness hair can develop naturally in the sun. Lowlights add strands of deeper color to create contrast, richness, or dimension. Babylights and lowlights can be used separately or together for a custom, multi-tonal finish.
How often do highlights need to be touched up?
The timing depends on how close the highlights are to your natural color, how quickly your hair grows, and whether you prefer a bright or lived-in result. Can highlights blend gray hair?
